This DIY tutorial covers how to turn a mason jar into a sugar or salt pourer using the top portion of an old container of salt.
The cheapest way of getting your hands on one of these little metal dispensing pieces, is to buy a container of salt from Walmart, Publix, Kroger, or whichever local food mart you frequent.
After you’ve cut the circle, you’ll be ready to place your new semi-round insert into your ring/lid and have your dispenser! If you cut it just a little bit on the larger side, it will fit real snug on its own, without needing to add hot glue to secure it in place.
One thing that isn’t shown in most of these photos, is that you can print out a design/pattern, or simply the name of the contents of the jar, and cover the bare ugly white cardboard of the salt container.
An easy way to do this, is once you have your design printed and cut out, place it under your salt-top cutout, then open the pourer. Use a pencil to reach down inside the pourer from the top to trace out where you need to cut your printed design.
After you’ve finished that, use mod podge or some other glue and secure your design onto the cardboard.
